Anna and Gerhard Derksen

They were the parents of Maria Derksen.Grandpa Derksen died in 1933 - a year before Peter and Maria were married. Peter never met her father.

Peter never saw his parents or half sisters again on earth.
Soviet Union borders were closed before that part of his family could escape.

He never gave her an engagement ring. Diamond engagement rings, as we know it,did not become popular until 1941 or so.

The RECORDED diamond engagement ring was given to Mary of Burgandy by the Archduke Maximillian of Hamburg in 1477

She died in 1969 at the age of 98
